Ik ben de maas

Six-part series - 23’ per episode

Ik ben de Maas is a six-part documentary series by Moiety Film Productions that portrays the river Maas as both a source of life and a fragile ecosystem. The series explores how the river’s natural ecosystem is closely intertwined with human life, particularly through its role in providing drinking water and shaping the landscapes it flows through.

Through quiet observation, the series reveals the delicate balance between the river, its flora and fauna, andthe people who depend on it. Animals and plants reflect the beauty of the Maas, while also highlighting its vulnerability. The narrative unfolds without commentary, focusing instead on moments of connection, dependence, and coexistence along the river’s journey to the sea.

The series follows a diverse range of beings whose lives intersect with the Maas, including beavers, sand martins, a ferryman, a fisherman, and volunteers working in nature conservation. Each is portrayed through their daily interactions with the river, showing how the Maas shapes routines, livelihoods, and ways of relating to the landscape.

My responsibilities within the project included research and camera work.
